Choubey releases Assocham report on Ayushman Bharat

 BS RAWAT
NEW DELHI : Union Minister of State for Health, Ashwini Kumar Choubey, has released an ASSOCHAM-KPMG joint report highlighting challenges being faced in implementation of Ayushman Bharat Programme.

The report highlighted the urgent need to focus on bigger operational aspects such as provisioning of quality and standardized care, driving quality accreditation, emphasizing learning and capacity development, leveraging analytics and technology and imbibing learning from across the globe to make the scheme more effective and successful.

The purpose of this whitepaper is to find ways to leverage partnerships between the government and private sector as both are important stakeholders contributing to rapid and effective implementation of the scheme, an ASSOCHAM statement said.

The report provides insights into challenges being faced during implementation of the scheme and suggests additional interventions that can be incorporated to accelerate India’s journey towards universal health coverage, it said.

Mr Choubey said, “The dream of building a successful India, an empowered India, will only come true if we ensure a healthy India.”

Dr Indu Bhushan, CEO, AB-PMJAY and National Health Authority, said, “With this scheme we are going to be expanding the availability and quality of services and will be making them more affordable by putting a cap on the cost of the services. For this scheme to succeed, we need two things - very active participation of private sector and innovations.”

Dr Praveen N. Gedam, Deputy CEO, AB-PMJAY and National Health Authority, said, “Private sector can help us spread awareness about the Ayushman Bharat scheme to every possible beneficiary across the country.”

“We are happy to promote startups that can help us amplify or enhance the Ayushman Bharat scheme,” he added.
