Humans may soon live a thousand years: Experts

BS RAWAT
NEW DELHI:
Experts say that ageing is a disease rather than a natural part of life. This view is encouraging anti-ageing researchers to boost their efforts in "curing" ageing. And if the researchers succeed, children born in the coming years may be living to 1,000 years of age, or even more.

The experts were speaking at a two-day first 'Anti-Ageing and Preventive Healthcare Conference' in Delhi organised by the Smart Group in partnership with the American Academy of Anti-Ageing Medicine (A4M).

Dr Preeti Malhotra, President - Organising committee, Smart A4M India conference, said, “Medicine has taken an exponential leap this century. Preventive health has had a profound effect on human longevity, awareness, mental well being.”

Dr Malhotra said that there are researches claiming that children born in the coming years may live for upto a thousand years. This has a profound effect on social relations, economies and the future of a nation.

Dr BK Modi, Chairman, Smart Group, said, “I am very glad that doctors in India are taking a keen interest in preventive health. Cellular therapy has personally given me a renewed zeal and has enabled me to pursue my passion despite my age.”

The conference was attended by more than 300 doctors and globally renowned scholars including Dr Andrew Heyman (MD, MHSA); Dr Pamela Smith (MD, MPH, MS); Dr Daniyar Jumaniyazov (MD, PhD); Dr Graham Simpson (MD); Dr Brian Delaney (PHD), Dr Deepak A V Chaturvedi (MD), endocrinologist from Mumbai; Dr Alok Sharma (President) and Dr BS Rajput (Vice President) of Stem Cell Society – India.
