Delhi AIIMS RDA to focus on security, accommodation

Junior and senior resident doctors of Delhi AIIMS have elected a new Resident Doctors Association headed by Dr Adarsh Pratap Singh. Dr Singh is a senior resident from department of surgery. More than 1700 residents cast their votes to elect the new doctors union.

Other office bearers of the RDA who have been elected include P Chandan, Vice President; Dr Srinivas Rajkumar T, General Secretary; Dr Khizar Ahmed, Joint Secretary; and Dr Ajit Singh Oberoi, Treasurer.

Dr Srinivas Rajkumar T said that the priority will be to implement the manifesto of their union.

The manifesto includes hostel issues including cleaning of hostel, alternate accommodation on the day of admission, Wifi services, regular medical checkup of all residents, upgradation of mess, ensuring drinking water quality, upgrading of all doctors duty rooms and rationalization of working hours of doctors.

Other issues include security of vehicles, timely compensation for losses suffered due to security lapse, salaries and incentives for foreign national residents at par with Indian residents, tea and coffee vending machines in library, appointment of clerical staff in RDA room and online grievance redressal portal.

Fixed weekly off, convocation, bed bugs and stray animal control, subsidized rates of items available at general store in hostel campuses, yoga, meditation and physical training, smart bike and cycle services and ultimatum to health minister for central security act will also be priorities of the newly elected RDA.
