Registration of 15 Madhya Pradesh doctors suspended

The Medical Council of India (MCI) has suspended the registration of 15 doctors of Madhya Pradesh for six months.

The doctors, include Dr Shashikant Rege, Dr Vinod Nadkarni, Dr Virshali Nadkarni, Dr Dhanraj Panjwani, Dr Rajesh Muley, Dr Swati Muley, Dr Atul Kumar Tapadiya, Dr Jaishree Tapadiya, Dr Atul Sahay, Dr Shweta Sahay, Dr Narottam Vaishya, Dr Harsh Saxena, Dr Prachi Saxena, Dr Alok Agrawal, and Dr Mahendra Singh Chouhan.

Investigation by the MCI found that these doctors had violated ethical regulations and committed misconduct. It suspended their registration to practise for six months.

The move comes after the said doctors went for foreign trips allegedly sponsored by an Ahmedabad-based pharmaceutical company.

The MCI has also asked the Drug Controller General of India to warn the pharma companies and take proper action against them.
