Rajnath Singh roots for integrated healthcare

NEW DELHI: Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has called for integrated health care and holistic approach in medical management.
Mr Singh was speaking at a two-day International Conference on Unani Medicine in New Delhi.
Hailing the virtues of the Unani system of medicine, the minister said it had been practiced for several centuries in the world.
Distributing awards to renowned practitioners and research scholars of Unani Medical System, Mr Singh also stressed on the health and well-being of individuals.
"Unani and other Indian systems of medicine were also known to raise the immunity and resistance power in the human body," he added.
Union DoNER Minister, Dr Jitendra Singh, emphasized hospital-based management through simultaneous multi-chamber consultation, wherein experts from Allopathy, AYUSH, Yoga and Unani could sit in the same premises and offer consultation together instead of seeing the patients separately.
This, the minister said, could check malpractices and also avoid working at cross- purposes.
AYUSH Minister Shripad Yesso Naik gave details of new AYUSH hospitals and set-ups established in the last five years across the country.
Secretary AYUSH, Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, advocated a pluralistic and integrated approach to health by way of making traditional
systems of medicine more accessible in the healthcare delivery system.
He underscored the need for incorporating information technology in AYUSH health care delivery.
