Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has appealed to the people not to panic over the 21-day coronavirus lockdown and has asked that panic buying of groceries and essentials should not be done.

The Chief Minister referred to the huge crowds at shops to buy stuff immediately after Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the lockdown on Tuesday. Mr Kejriwal said that such behaviour defeats the very purpose of the lockdown.

Kejriwal assured that supply of essential commodities will be maintained in Delhi. He said that e-passes will be issued to shopkeers, vegetable vendors etc.

Kejriwal released helpline number 01123469536 of the office of Delhi police commissioner in case there is a problem with police for essential service maintenance.
