More than 130 healthcare workers, involved in treatment of patients having coronavirus, have died across the world due to the virus.

'More than 130 healthcare givers worldwide have lost their lives fighting corona virus, including 71 Italian doctors, " said Dr Ravi Wankhedkar, President of the The South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) of Doctors.

"Thousands of healthcare workers have been infected worldwide. Supply of adequate good quality personal protection equipment must be ensured," added Dr Wankhedkar.

It is reported that more than 11 lakh people have been infected with the corona virus across the globe so far.

The virus has killed some 59,140 people across the globe.

More than two lakh people suffering from the disease have been cured while around 40000 patients suffering from the virus are in critical stage.

Italy has recorded the highest 14,181 deaths due to the virus, followed by Spain with 11,198 deaths.

USA has reported 7402 deaths while France has reported 6702 deaths due to the virus. UK has recorded 3605 corona deaths.

It is noted that China, where the virus originated, reported 3,326 deaths.
