Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has said that his government has written to the central government to make available personal protection kits for doctors, nurses and healthcare workers who are treating corona patients in Delhi but not a single kit has been made available by the centre.

Kejriwal said that he was worried for the safety of the doctors, nurses and healthcare workers. He said he does not want them to put themselves at risk without protection.

Kejriwal said that in the next few days the number if patients in Delhi may shoot up as the results of tests of Tablighi Jamaat patients come in.

However, he said the situation is under control in Delhi as in every case of corona so far it is known from whom the virus was contracted. We are still in the local transmission stage in Delhi and not in the community transmission stage, he said.

Mr Kejriwal said he is personally monitoring every single coronavirus case in Delhi and it was his first priority not to let Delhi slip into the community transmission stage.

The next priority, he said, is to keep the number of corona deaths down. He said that till March 4, there have been six deaths in Delhi due to coronavirus, five of them being over 60 years of age and one being 35 years old.

Five of the six dead, he said, had some comorbidities like liver, kidney, respiratory or heart disease.

He requested the elderly to please take care of themselves, for, they are vulnerable.
