UP hospital warns corona-infected medics with action

Amid the ongoing coronavirus outbreak, the Uttar Pradesh University of Medical Sciences, Etawah, issued a strange order saying that if a medic is infected by the virus, he himself will be responsible for it.

“Hence, healthcare workers in the Covid-19 dedicated hospitals were directed not to get infected,” said Suresh Chandra Sharma, dean of the institute, in the order.

“Get regular practice of wearing required protective gears, maintaining safe distance and following precautions prescribed for healthcare workers,” the order stated.

It is noted that a lot of doctors and healthcare workers were getting infected or reported as ‘contact to infected person’, causing shortage of staff in hospitals across the country.

The institute went on to say that this could be happening as either hospitals were not following standard operating procedures, or such persons were not following guidelines prescribed for healthcare workers.
