Delhi: Covid cases in ICUs doubled in 20 days

The number of Covid patients requiring treatment in Intensive Care Unit doubled in twenty days in Delhi hospitals while the number of patients needing ventilator care also significantly increased.

As per Delhi government data released on May 5, 2020, some 92 patients with the virus were getting treatment in ICUs while 17 patients were on ventilators.

And, twenty days later, on May 25, 2020, a total of 187 patients are getting treatment in ICUs and 29 critical patients are on ventilators.

As on date, 33 patients with the virus have been shifted to ICU in Safdarjung hospital while eight patients are under ventilator treatment in Delhi-AIIMS and AIIMS-Jhajjar.

Other patients are getting treatment in ICU and getting ventilator support in Delhi-government run hospitals. Among private hospitals, Max Smart Super Specialty Hospital in Saket has the highest number of patients -- 31 -- in ICU. Batra hospital in Sangam Vihar and Sir Ganga Ram City Hospital have four patients each on ventilators.
