The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) sealed its headquarters building in Central Delhi on May 28, 2020, after a senior employee tested positive for COVID-19, taking the total number of employees infected with the deadly disease to seven.

"In view of the employees working in Accounts Department and Commercial Department of NDMC having been reported Covid-19 positive, NDMC has decided to seal the entire headquarters building at Sansad Marg and Shaheed Bhagat Singh Place offices at Gole Market for 48 hours from today," a senior NDMC official said.

"All officers and employees will be working from home for next two days and shall be available on Mobile and email all the time," the official added.

Three employees of the NDMC had tested positive for COVID-19 on May 27, prompting the civic body to seal a floor of its headquarters ‘Palika Kendra’ and a section of another building housing its office in Gole Market.

Earlier three employees of the NDMC, including a sanitation worker and engineer, had tested positive for COVID-19.

Last week, a doctor at an NDMC dispensary had tested positive for COVID-19, following which the premises of the health facility was sealed.

NDMC directed all persons who were in close contact with affected employees to observe home quarantine procedure and report to District Authority  in case they become symptomatic.
