Even as the Indian capital Delhi is finding a decline in the corona cases, deaths and hospital admissions hinting at a peak having been reached, the rest of the country is reporting higher cases and deaths.
As per the data released by the Indian health ministry in the morning of June 30, 2020, there have been 18552 new cases of coronavirus and 418 deaths reported in the past 24 hours across the country.
So far, the country has seen 566840 cases and 16893 deaths due to corona. 334822 patients have recovered of the virus and there are 215125 active cases, as per the ministry.
It is clear that the virus will lose its momentum at different points of time in different cities. It will decline first in those places, like Delhi and Mumbai, where it struck first and struck hard. Experience shows that the virus declines rapidly from its peak. However, the fear always remains that more peaks can be defined by the virus as the cities open up to activity.
For now, Delhi is keeping it's fingers crossed on corona.
