Overcharging patient: FIR on Nanavati Hospital, Mumbai

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has lodged an FIR against the Nanavati Super Speciality Hospital (NSSH) at Vile Parle, Mumbai, accusing the hospital of overcharging a Covid-19 patient.


The FIR was lodged at Santacruz police station after a complaint by the family of the 62-year-old patient, who was in hospital for 47 days, was charged Rs17 lakh for treatment in the hospital.

The chairman and trustees of the hospital have been booked by the police and summoned for recording their statements.

The police officials said that overcharging was allegedly done for PPE kits, testing, medicines and ICU bed and all of these charges will be investigated.
