Delhi: Rapid tests at 200 dispensaries from July 13

The Delhi Government will start rapid antigen testing in its 200 dispensaries and 25 polyclinics from July 13, 2020, and will extend quick point-of-care testing to those living outside the 633 containment zones.

Dr Nutan Mundeja, Director General Health Services, has ordered: “In continuation of various measures undertaken by Gov. of NCT of Delhi to augment Covid-19 testing and to ensure that it is more accessible, it has been decided that Rapid Antigen Detection Tests will be offered by all Delhi Govt. dispensaries and Polyclinics from 9 am to 12 noon on all working days to all eligible individuals.”

These will be in addition to at least 160 centres set up by the government to test those inside or in the vicinity of containment zones.

Any resident can walk in for a Covid-19 test, and will require no documents or prescriptions, it said.

The test kits need to be stored at below 30°C. As a result, over the next few days, dispensaries that did not have air-conditioning systems will get them, the Delhi government official said.

Outside containment zones, dispensaries and polyclinics will test those with influenza-like symptoms such as fever, cough, and sore throat. Those who have come in contact with confirmed Covid-19 patients will also be tested.
