According to the Indian Health Ministry data released in the morning on August 13, 2020, cases of coronavirus spiked by 66,999 in the past 24 hours, recording the highest ever single day surge in cases of the virus so far in the country.

As per the data, the virus killed 942 people in the past 24 hours, taking the total number of deaths due to the virus to 47033 so far in the country.

The total number of cases of the virus now stands at 2396638 including 653622 active cases, 1695982 recoveries and 43033 deaths.
