Rajasthan restricts oxygen supply to other states
BS RAWAT
Despite the center's warning, the Ashok Gehlot government in Rajasthan has imposed restrictions on state-based manufacturers selling to other states, even as the demand has surged.
The government has called meetings of all the oxygen suppliers and asked them to ensure medical oxygen supply to all hospitals in the state on priority.
Many districts in the state were hit when there was a surge in demand.
Bhiwadi, Neemrana, and Alwar districts have oxygen supplier companies in the state. These are supplying medical oxygen to various states including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat.
To ensure that the state faces no gap in supply of medical oxygen, the state government has appointed Alwar District collector as nodal officer.
It is reported that as patient load is increasing in Rajasthan hospitals, daily demand of oxygen is increasing manifold. Apart from hospitals, now even people are asking for oxygen cylinders at home as a number of patients in home isolation don’t want to get admitted to hospitals.
