No online teaching in MBBS, says MCI

In reply to an RTI query whether online mode of teaching for MBBS course from foreign medical colleges is permitted or not, the Medical Council of India (MCI) has clarified that it does not approve online teaching in MBBS.
This clarification came after a concerned person wrote to the apex medical council seeking certain information relating to an online course in MBBS by foreign Medical Universities. The query was under the provisions of the RTI Act, 2005.
The query was whether the online mode of teaching for the first semester is approved by the MCI and if not approved, what is the standing instruction on this matter by the apex medical regulator.
To this, Rajiv Kumar, assistant secretary & PIO at the medical council, replied: The Medical Council of India does not recognize or approve any online teaching in MBBS or its equivalent medical course.
