Modi urged to have North DMC docs' salaries paid

The resident doctors of Rajiv Gandhi Super Specialty Hospital (RGSSH), a Covid designated Delhi government-run hospital, have urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene and ensure that pending salaries of resident doctors working in North DMC hospitals are paid.
The doctors have said that North DMC resident doctors have not been paid for the last 3 to 4 months which has affected their livelihood and has put them into a financial crisis.
In a letter to the PM, the doctors have warned that they also may have to join the protest with doctors of North DMC if their salary is not paid. The doctors have pointed out that residents of this corporation have been facing this hardship despite the PM having lauded their efforts in serving patients in the Covid pandemic.
“The residents have been deprived of their basic right to support their families as they are unable to meet their daily expenditures in wake of non-payment of salary. This has forced them to go for symbolic protests since October 5, 2020, and even held a peaceful protest at Jantar Mantar but these efforts have been futile,” said the RDA in the letter.
“Sir, we request you to resolve this crisis and help our fellow residents. If this is not resolved the RDA (RGSSH) will be forced to join along with many other hospitals,” warned the doctors.
Not only resident doctors but senior doctors of this corporation have been facing issues of non-payment of salary for a long time.
It may be noted that Municipal Corporation Doctor’s Association postponed its proposed strike from October 19, 2020, after the Mayor of North DMC appealed to the association to give time to arrange funds for payment of their pending salary for the last three months. The association had given a one week deadline to the North DMC for arranging the salary.
