Docs' unpaid salaries at Hindu Rao: FORDA writes to NBE ED

The Federation of Resident Doctors Association (Forda)-India has urged the Executive Director of the National Board of Examinations (NBE) to intervene and ensure that DNB residents working in North MCD-run Hindu Rao Hospital (HRH) are paid their salaries. The resident doctors of HRH have not been paid their salary for the last four months.

It is understood that around 150 DNB students (resident doctors) are engaged with the HRH in patient care and clinical practice. DNB students get their degree from the NBE after passing their course. NBE has tied up with government and private hospitals where its students pursue their DNB courses and other higher degrees.

The NBE has to ensure that all the students get their salary from the respective hospitals where they pursue their courses. However, this did not happen in HRH where their clinical practice stopped due to Covid pandemic as the hospital was designated as a Covid facility and they did not get the salary. This has prompted Forda-India to seek the intervention of ED, NBE.

Dr Shivaji Dev Barman, President, Forda-India, told DTMT: “NBE should ensure that the DNB students get their salary. If they don’t get it, they should be transferred to other hospitals, where salary is paid on time.”
