India's Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan has said that those people who get the Covid vaccine shots in the coming days need to keep up the Covid-appropriate behaviour like mask wearing, hand hygiene and keeping social distance even after getting the vaccination as the immunity is built 14 days after the second dose of the two-doze vaccination has been received
Mr Bhushan told the media in New Delhi: "The immunization effects will take 14 days to develop after the conducting of the two dosages. It is imperative to maintain the COVID behavior.”
Mr Bhushan also shared that Bharat Biotech (BBIL) has announced that it will be providing 16.50 lakh doses of its vaccine Covaxin free of cost to the Central Government as a gesture.
He said that the Government of India has also ordered 110 lakh Covishield vaccine doses from the Serum Institute of India (SII) at Rs 200/- per dose.
The Government of India has also ordered 55 lakh doses of Covaxin vaccine from the Bharat Biotech (BBIL), out of which 38.5 lakh doses are at Rs295/- per dose of the vaccine, said Mr Bhushan.
