India’s Health Ministry has informed that five states including Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Punjab, Kerala and Maharashtra have reported upsurge in daily cases of coronavirus.  

The ministry has stressed that the importance of adherence to Covid appropriate behavior is strongly reiterated for breaking the chain of transmission of the virus and containment of the spread of the disease.

“Kerala continues to report high number of daily new cases,” said the ministry in a statement.

In the last 7 days, Chhattisgarh has also seen a rise in daily active new cases. In the last 24 hours, a total of 259 cases were reported in the state.

The ministry has informed that in the past week, Maharashtra has exhibited a spike in the number of daily new cases, accounting for the highest number of daily new cases in the country on February 20, 2021. In the last 24 hours, 6,112 new cases were reported in the state.

The ministry has said that similar to Maharashtra, Punjab has also shown a sudden spike in the number of daily new cases reported in the last 7 days. A total of 383 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

Since Feb 13, 2021, Madhya Pradesh is also witnessing a rise in the number of daily new cases. In the last 24 hours, a total 297 new cases were registered in the state.
