India recorded a significant jump in Covid cases and deaths in the past 24 hours, as per the Indian Health Ministry data on February 25, 2021.

A total of 16738 cases and 138 deaths were recorded in the past 24 hours. A total of 11799 people recovered from the virus in the past 24 hours.

As per the data, the total number of cases in India so far are 11046914 and total deaths are 156705. Active cases have also jumped to 151708.

The overall spike in cases in the country has been attributed to sudden rise in cases in Maharashtra and other states. Maharashtra alone has recorded 8807 Covid cases and 80 deaths in the past 24 hours, which account for over 50% of total cases and fatalities in India.
