Amid shortage of Remdesivir injection and reports of its black marketing, India’s Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan has warned of strict action for those involved in black marketing of the drug and other malpractices.

Speaking to the media and responding to the shortage of Remdesivir on April 16, 2021, the minister asserted that companies have been directed to ramp up production of the drug.

“I assure you that strict action will be taken against those who are involved in black marketing of the drug and other malpractices,” he added.

To tackle the current situation where Covid cases are rising rapidly, Dr Harsh Vardhan said that he will hold a meeting with states’ health ministers.

The minister informed that he will also hold a virtual meeting where all AIIMS hospitals across the country to discuss ramping up of facilities.

According to the latest data from the health ministry, a total of 54 districts have not reported any new Covid cases in the last 7 days and 44 districts have not recorded any case in 28 days.
