Covid: Israeli Medical Assn. extends support to India

The Israeli Medical Association has extended its support to India in management of Covid and helping it in supply of oxygen and other essential items for controlling the disease.
This is in addition to the Israel government’s ongoing aid to India in handling Covid. The association has written a letter to Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and stated that it is ready to support India.
We are aware that Israel has already begun to offer support to Government of India, and, with this in mind, the Israeli Medical Association has been in contact with colleagues in the Indian Medical Association who have highlighted their need for oxygen, Remdesivier and vaccines,” said Prof Zion Hagay, President, Israeli Medical Association.
“Last month at the World Medical Association Council Meeting, leaders of medical associations across the globe passed an emergency resolution which expressed increasing concern at the worsening Covid crisis in India, Brazil and other countries. This resolution calls on governments to prioritize their support to these nations where the Covid crisis is escalating,” said Prof Hagay.
“The success of the Israeli vaccination campaign is internationally renowned, with this success comes great responsibility and expectation at that we share this success with international community,” added Prof Hagay.
“If we can be any assistance in speaking to the medical community and identifying their needs, please do not hesitate to contact me and we will gladly assist any way we can,” he assured.
“This support is part of resolution passed at World Medical Association (WMA) meeting held recently,” said Dr Ravi Wankhedkar, Treasurer, WMA.
