The Uttar Pradesh police has urged people of areas around Ghazipur district that they should not dump dead bodies into rivers. Many dead bodies have been found in Ganga River in Buxar district of Bihar. The dead bodies were apparently dumped in Ghazipur which floated to Buxar.

Policemen in a boat in the river in Ghazipur are making an appeal through mike that people should not perform water burial of dead bodies into Ganga river but cremate them. If any person is unable to bear expenses of cremation he should inform the police. "We will make arrangements," the police has announced.

MP Singh, DM, Ghazipur, has said that Ghazipur administration has capped the price of firewood at Rs 650 per quintal and ‘Dom Raja’ (giver of the flame for funeral pyres) would not take more than Rs 500 for cremating a body.

“We are setting up a control room at each crematorium where police personnel and Lekhpal would be stationed,” he added.

“If any person is unable to bear the expense of cremation and goes to any crematorium, we will provide them with Rs 5000 immediately and bear all expenses of cremation,” assured Singh.
