The number of doctors’ deaths is still increasing in the second wave. In heart wrenching news, a total eight pregnant doctors have died of the deadly infectious disease while caring for their parents in Covid wards. The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has expressed grief over the deaths of pregnant doctors.

Informing further on doctors’ Covid mortality, the IMA has stated that a total of 730 doctors have succumbed to Covid in the second wave.

According to IMA’s Covid registry, a total of 115 doctors the highest in India- have died of Covid in Bihar. Bihar has been followed by Delhi 109.

It may be noted that poor healthcare infrastructure in Bihar has resulted in high doctor mortality. Not only the public but doctors themselves have borne the brunt of non-availability of oxygen and ICU beds.

A total of 79 doctors have died in UP while 62 doctors have died in West Bengal.
