India reports 43,263 COVID-19 cases, 338 fatalities

India’s daily COVID-19 count jumped by over 14% compared to yesterday as the country witnessed 43,263 new infections of coronavirus in the last 24 hours, taking the overall caseload to 3, 31, 39,981 in the country, the Indian Health Ministry informed on September 9, 2021.

The ministry also informed that the country’s death toll rose to 4, 41,749 after it witnessed 338 fatalities in the last 24 hours.

According to the government data, India’s cumulative recovery increased to 3, 23, 04,618 after it recorded 40,567 recoveries in the past 24 hours, while the recovery rate currently stands at 97.48%.

The country’s active caseload currently stands at 3, 93,614, while active cases account for 1.19% of total cases.

As per the official figures, the daily positivity rate reported to be 2.38% which is less than 3% for the last 10 days, while the weekly positivity rate stood at 2.43 which is less than 3% for the last 76 days.

Testing capacity substantially ramped up as 53.68 crore samples have been tested so far.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a total of 53, 68, 17,243 samples were tested up to September 8, out of which, 18, 17,639 samples were tested yesterday.

The ministry said that the cumulative number of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered under the nationwide vaccination drive has reached 71, 65, 97,428, while 86, 51,701 doses were administered yesterday.
