COVID-19: India reports 34,973 new cases, 260 fatalities

India reported 34,973 new COVID-19 infections in the last 24 hours, taking the overall caseload to 3, 31, 74,954 in the country, the Indian Health Ministry informed on September 10, 2021.

The ministry also informed that the country’s death toll rose to 4, 42,009 after it witnessed 260 fatalities in the last 24 hours.

According to the government data, the cumulative recoveries in the country increased to 3, 23, 42,299 after 37,681 people were cured in the past 24 hours, while the recovery rate currently stands at 97.49%.

India’s active caseload stands at 3, 90,646 while the active cases account for 1.18% of the total cases, the ministry said.

As per the official figures, the daily positivity rate is reported to be 1.96% which is less than 3% for the last 11 days, while the weekly positivity rate currently stands at 2.31% which is less than 3% for the last 77 days.

Meanwhile, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said that 53, 86, 04,854 samples have been tested till September 9, 2021, of which 17, 87,611 samples were tested yesterday.

Under the Nationwide Vaccination Drive, 72, 37, 84,586 vaccine doses have been administered so far, while 67, 58,491 vaccine doses were administered in the last 24 hours.
