India sees jump of 12.4%, logs 30,570 new COVID-19 cases

The daily COVID-19 count witnessed a jump of 12.4% compared to yesterday that recorded 27,176 fresh infections, as India reported 30,570 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, taking the overall caseload to 3,33,47,325, the Indian Health Ministry informed on September 16, 2021.

The country’s death toll rose to 4,43,928 after 431 fatalities were recorded in the last 24 hours, the ministry informed.

India witnessed 38,303 recoveries in the last 24 hours, pushing the cumulative recoveries to 3,25,60,474 in the country, while the recovery rate currently stands at 97.64%.

According to the government data, the active caseload stands at 3,42,923, while the active cases account for 1.03% of total cases.

As per the official figures, the daily positivity rate is reported to be less than 3% for the last 17 days, and currently stands at 1.94%, while the weekly positivity rate is reported to be less than 3% for the last 83 days, and currently stands at 1.93%.

Meanwhile, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said that 54,77,01,729 samples have been tested till September 15, 2021, of which 15,79,761 samples were tested yesterday.

Under the Nationwide Vaccination Drive, 76,57,17,137 vaccine doses have been administered so far, while 64,51,423 vaccine doses were administered in the last 24 hours
