COVID-19: 35,662 new cases in India, 3.65% higher than yesterday

India reported 35,662 new COVID-19 cases, 3.65% higher than yesterday that witnessed 34,403 new infections in the last 24 hours, the Indian Health Ministry informed on September 18. 2021.
The latest daily count has pushed the overall caseload to 3,34,17,390 in the country, while the death toll rose to 4,44,529 after 281 fatalities were recorded in the last 24 hours, the ministry informed.
The ministry also said that 33,798 recoveries reported in the past 24 hours have taken the cumulative recoveries to 3,26,32,222 in the nation while the recovery rate currently stands at 97.65%.
According to the official data, India’s active caseload currently stands at 3,40,639, while the active cases account for 1.02% of the total cases.
As per the official figures, the daily positivity rate is reported to be less than 3% for the last 19 days, and currently stands at 2.46%, while the weekly positivity rate is recorded to be less than 3% for the last 85 days, and currently stands at 2.02%.
Meanwhile, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said that 55,07,80,273 samples have been tested till September 17, 2021, of which 14,48,833 samples were tested yesterday.
Under the Nationwide Vaccination Drive, 79,42,87,699 vaccine doses have been administered so far, while 2,15,98,046 vaccine doses were administered in the last 24 hours.
On the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘s 71st birthday, India set a record and administered over 2.5 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses in a single day on September 17, 2021.
