COVID-19: India reports drop of 9% than yesterday, logs 20,799 new cases

India’s daily COVID-19 count witnessed an improvement as it reported a drop of around 9% compared to yesterday’s 22,842 COVID-19 infections after the country witnessed 20,799 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, the Indian Health Ministry informed on October 4, 2021.

The ministry also informed that the cumulative death toll increased to 4,48,997 after the country recorded 180 fatalities in the last 24 hours.

According to the government data, the active caseload currently stands at 2,64,458 which is the lowest in 200 days, while the active cases account for less than 1% of total cases, currently at 0.78% which is again lowest since March 2020.

After the country witnessed 26,718 recoveries in the last 24 hours the overall recoveries reached 3,31,21,247, while the recovery rate currently stands at 97.89%, which is the highest since March 2020.

As per the official figures, the daily positivity rate is reported to be less than 3% for the last 35 days and currently stands at 2.10%, while the weekly positivity rate is recorded to be less than 3% for the last 101 days, and currently stands at 1.63%

Meanwhile, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said that 57,42,52,400 samples have been tested till October 3, 2021, of which 9,91,676 samples were tested yesterday.

Under the Nationwide Vaccination Drive, 90,79,32,861 vaccine doses have been administered so far, while 23,46,176 vaccine doses were administered in the last 24 hours.
