India records 21,257 COVID cases in 24 hours

India recorded 21257 COVID cases and 24,963 recoveries in the last hours, the Indian Health Ministry informed on October 8, 2021.
As per the official information, with more recoveries and less daily cases, the country’s active caseload stands at 2, 40, 221, which is the lowest in 205 days.
The active cases account for less than 1% of total cases, currently at 0.71%; lowest since March 2020.
The ministry said that recovery rate currently stands at 97.96%; the highest since March 2020.
The ministry further added that the total number of COVID recoveries have reached 3,32,25,221.
“Weekly positivity rate (1.64%) is less than 3% for the last 105 days while daily positivity rate (1.53%) is less than 3% for the last 49 days, '' said the ministry.
The ministry said that a total of 58 crore COVID tests have been conducted so far.
“A total of 93.17 crore vaccine doses have been administered so far under Nationwide Vaccination Drive,” said the ministry.
