Pulmonary fibrosis is a life-threatening lung disease that occurs when lung tissues are damaged and scarred. This thickened, stiff tissue can prevent the lungs to function fully.
During the pandemic, many post-COVID19 patients have been diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis and required immediate medical action. It is a severe irreversible condition affecting the patient’s quality of life.
Dr Shyam Thampi, Pulmonolist, ACI Cumballa Hill Hospital in Mumbai, said that early diagnosis, swift treatment, adequate hydration, and opting for vitamin C and zinc supplements could be helpful in managing lung fibrosis.
