Asymptomatic contacts of COVID need not to take test: reiterates Health Ministry

The Union Health Ministry has reiterated that asymptomatic contacts of COVID patients need not to take tests.

The ministry said that COVID patients clinically assigned as mild/ asymptomatic are eligible for home isolation. Patients aged above 60 years and with comorbidities will only be allowed home isolation after proper doctor’s evaluation.

The ministry emphasized that elderly patients aged more than 60 years and those with co-morbid conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, heart disease, chronic lung/liver/ kidney disease, cerebro-vascular disease etc. shall only be allowed home isolation after proper evaluation by the treating medical officer.
