Written to Govt. for medical seats to martyr's kin: Army Chief

New Delhi: Army Chief General Bipin Rawat on January 12, 2017, said that the matter pertaining to MBBS/BDS seats in Government colleges every year to the kin of martyrs has been taken up with the government.

He said that he has written to the Defense Ministry for a series of measures for the kin of martyred soldiers to ensure that they didn’t suffer in their education after the death of their family member along the borders while fighting militants.

The Army Chief stated that the wards of martyred soldiers are now being given first priority for MBBS/BDS seats reserved for the Defense personnel. Total 24 seats of MBBS and 3 BDS are reserved annually for the armed forces in various Government Medical and Dental Colleges.

Allowances are admissible only for undertaking studies in Government/Government aided schools/ educational institutes/Military/Sainik Schools and other schools and colleges recognized by the Central or State Governments including the autonomous organizations financed entirely by the Centre and State Governments.
