NEW DELHI: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has on February 9, 2018, announced that the Aadhar number is mandatory for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) application.

The NEET 2018 examination for admission to undergraduate medical and dental courses will be held on Sunday, May 6, 2018.

For all candidates except those from Assam, Jammu & Kashmir and Meghalaya, Aadhaar number is mandatory. In case a student does not have the Aadhar card yet, Aadhaar enrollment number or EID or registration number issued by the Facilitation Centre would also be acceptable.

The board has informed that those who do not have an Aadhar card need not panic. In case they are mandated to use the Aadhar card, they can still apply for the same and fill the form using the registration number received from the facilitation centre.

Kindly note that no exemption, other than provided above, would be considered. Candidates are hence requested to arrange for the identification document asked for, it said.

For Non-Resident Indians, the board said that either the Aadhar number or the passport number would be acceptable and foreign nationals, as well as candidates who hold the OCI or PIO cards, are required to provide their passport number.
