Telangana speeds up recruitment of doctors

To speed up the recruitment process, a departmental recruitment committee will directly recruit the 1463 doctors.

The Telangana government, on a mission to fill up vacancies of doctors in its health department, has intensified the process of the recruitment of doctors. In this connection, the state's health department has withdrawn an order entrusting the responsibility of recruitment of 1463 doctors to the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC).

Of these posts, 1280 doctors posts are in the Telangana State Vaidya Vidana Parishad (TSVVP) and the remaining 183 posts are in the Ayush department. The decision has been taken as the state government found that that there was inordinate delay in the recruitment of the doctors for varied reasons.

The newly appointed Principal Secretary of health Shanta Kumari held a high level review meeting on the issue recently with officials concerned and decided to speed up the process by recruiting for the posts through the departmental committee in a direct manner instead of holding written tests through the TSPSC. It was also decided to rope in the services of the TSPSC to recruit for posts which require written tests. Following this meeting, the officials of the health department have identified that 1463 doctors posts do not require the written test and opined that they can be recruited directly, prompting the withdrawal of the orders.

The state government has decided to fill up these vacancies through a departmental recruitment committee. The finance department of the state has also issued orders to this efffect paving the way for the recruitment of the doctors.

In the direct recruitment process, the services of Center for Good Governance (CGG) have been roped in by the state government. The Center will commence the process of receiving applications from the job aspirants after the release of a formal notification to fill up the doctors’ posts. It will discharge different kinds of duties like classification of the posts on the basis of their social reservations, scrutiny of the certificates of the job aspirants with experts and preparation of the final list of all eligible candidates. Later, the health department will issue appointment orders to all the eligible candidates on the basis of their order of merit and social status.
