NEW DELHI: A Division Bench of the Delhi High Court comprising Justice S Ravindra Bhat and Justice A K Chawla suspended the operation of the order of Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT), New Delhi bench, thus setting aside the reinstatement of Dr Jagdish Prasad as DG Health Services.

The Bench was dealing with a writ petition filed by the Union government challenging the CAT order.

Dr Prasad, former DGHS, had approached CAT against Union health ministry’s 2016 order, stating professionals under the Central Health Scheme will have to step down and serve in non-administrative posts between the age of 62 and 65 years

A Bench of CAT earlier held that Dr Prasad will continue to serve as head of DGHS, the technical wing of health ministry.

The High Court Bench heard the arguments and suspended the operation of the CAT order.
