Fake doctor drawing Rs 46k salary, goes missing

LAKSHMESHWAR: A man posing as a doctor, who was allegedly drawing a monthly salary of Rs 46,000 from the Karnataka government for the past 4-5 months, has gone missing.

The duplicate doctor was using the name of one Dr Vikas Patil who was pursuing higher studies in medicine. The man got the job of district health officer in Gadag, Karnataka. He has been missing for the past 15 days after a questioning a staff member got suspicious.

The man applied for the post of district health officer in Gadag, submitted the required documents and got the job in March 2018. The suspect was appointed as doctor for the Bannikoppa Primary Health Centre of Shirahatti taluk on Rs 46,000 per month salary. The fake doctor was giving treatment to the patients.

Someone informed the ‘original’ Dr Vikas Patil's father about this fake doctor. He gave the original MBBS certificates of his son to Gadag district health officer Dr NS Honakeri, and the fraud came to light.
