Certificates to quacks: Telangana docs slam minister's move

The assertion by Telangana cabinet minister KT Rama Rao that he will give certificates to quacks has not gone down well with junior resident doctors in the state.
The Telangana Junior Resident Doctors Association (TJUDA) has condemned the remark made by the minister. The doctors have asked minister Rao that if the certificates are issued to the quacks then what is the purpose of studying MBBS and doing MD/MS/DM/Mch when unqualified persons can treat patients.
They also asked that when people trust government hospitals, then why does CM KC Rao go to Delhi for his eye treatment.
“Did we fight and get Telangana as a separate state to get the state's CM treated in Delhi,” asked Dr PS Vijayender, Chairman, TJUDA-United RDA.
Dr Vijayender added that KT Rama Rao did his MBA in marketing and e-commerce from City University of New York. “How are the health care services in US? Are they being run by unqualified people?” asked Dr Vijayender.
TJUDA questioned the government as to how many new hospitals have been constructed and whether basic facilities have been improved in government hospitals to provide health services to underprivileged and marginalized rural population of Telangana.
The doctors said that the High Court had recently directed the state government to set up 100 PHCs and 50 CHS. They asked if the High Court’s directions have been implemented or not.
The doctors requested that the minister should not make such statements for their political gains that can make graduate and postgraduate medical students jobless.
