NEW DELHI: India's Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has arrested a truck driver, a resident of Kupwara, Kashmir, who was found carrying 50kg of heroin worth Rs 250 crore, packed under apple crates.
NCB’s Zonal Director Virender Yadav said that the bureau officials suspect that the contraband was being smuggled to Kupwara and Delhi from Pakistan. On specific information, the NCB sleuths intercepted the truck at a checkpost near Jammu and during a check it was found that the drugs, packed in pouches, were stuffed under the apple crates.
Yadav said that the driver is being questioned about the source of the contraband and others involved in the racket. There were at least 50 pouches. The truck was later unloaded in Delhi.
