MUMBAI: A 20-year-old nursing student at a Navi Mumbai-based college died after falling from an overcrowded train near Ulhasnagar. The girl, Sanjana Sukhadev Suradkar, was headed to a Bhandup hospital where she had been interning for almost three months.

The Government Railway Police Kalyan has registered a case of accidental death and is investigating the matter.

Kalyan GRP said they took the student to Central hospital in Ulhasnagar but the on-duty doctor declared her brought dead.

The police said that there was a major injury around her head.

The victim’s father, who works as a security guard, said, “We were all waiting for her to finish her internship so that she could help out her poor parents who are struggling to make ends meet. Her younger brother, who is in Class X, is heartbroken as she always helped him in his studies.”
