DTMT Network
As many as eight people, including a 6-month-old, died and hundreds sustained injuries in a massive fire which broke out on December 17, 2018, at ESIC hospital in Andheri, Mumbai.

The fire broke out just opposite the Operation Theater on the hospital's fourth floor and thereafter gripped the entire building. The cause of fire is yet to be known.

People were seen jumping and hanging from windows of the hospital building to save themselves from the fire.

In previous years, fires broke out in Odisha and Kolkata hospitals and caused massive human and property losses.

It is reported that ESIC, Mumbai, had failed in the fire audits. Despite that the government authorities didn't take it seriously, endangered the life of patients and allowed the hospital to continue to run without fire audit certificates.

The injured and the patients have been shifted to Seven Hills hospital, P Thackeray Trauma Hospital, Holy Spirit Hospital, Hiranandani Hospital and Siddharth Hospital.
