Javadekar assures AIIMS' scholars of early hike in stipend

India’s Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar has assured the research scholars of Delhi-AIIMS that they will soon get hiked stipend.

After meeting with India’s Science and Technology Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan, the research scholars of Delhi-AIIMS met Javadekar on December 26, 2018, in New Delhi. They urged the minister for early hike in stipend, which has not been increased for nearly four years.

Disclosing details of the meeting with Javadekar, Mr Lal Chand Vishwakarma, Chairman, Society of Young Scientist (SYS), Delhi-AIIMS, said that the minister has assured early hike in stipend.

“We have demanded 80% to 100% hike in the stipend. Finance Ministry, HRD and Science and Technology ministries are responsible for funding the hike in stipend of research scholars,” said Mr Vishwakarma.

Fellowship increase, reviewing system of fellowship and disbursement of scholarship regularly, creation of a complaints portal or redressal system, fellowship provisions for extended degree research scholars and  regular provision of contingency grant have been major demands of the research scholars.

A copy of these demands were given to the minister Javadekar.
