IMA condemns attack on Hyderabad-based pediatrician

The brutal attack on Dr Michael Aranha has been condemned by the Indian Medical Association (IMA). The IMA had demanded that authorities take measures to stop such attacks on doctors. They felt an increase in such ‘attacks’ was an indication of failing law and order in the state.
On December 31, 2018, doctors affiliated with IMA took out a rally from Uday Omni Hospital, where Dr Michael is recuperating, to the DGP office, to protest the attack on the paediatrician.
The agitated doctors demanded that police act against the culprits as per the Telangana Medical Service Persons Act.
IMA Telangana secretary Dr Sanjeev Singh Yadav said, “There should be quick action by police in case of emergency and non-interference by politicians in the name of religion or otherwise.”
A conducive atmosphere must be restored in the state, he demanded.
