J&J's faulty hip Implants: 10 MPs write to Nadda for action

NEW DELHI: Seven MPs of the Shiv Sena and three other MPs have written to Indian Health Minister J.P. Nadda to take appropriate action against Johnson and Johnson (J&J) and ensure justice for all victims of faulty ASR hip implants.

Chandrakant Khaire, Shiv Sena MP from Maharashtra, wrote in a letter dated January 7, 2019: “Johnson and Johnson seems to be going against the government’s directions and denying its liability in compensating Indian patients.”

He said, “I call upon you to independently identify all patients who have received the faulty ASR implants in India; and take appropriate action against the J&J to ensure that justice is met to all the sufferers of these faulty ASR implants.”

Apart from Khaire, other Shiv Sena MPs who have written to Nadda seeking action against J&J are Rahul Shewale,  Hemant Tukaram Godse, Arvind Sawant, Prataprao Jadhav, Vinayak Raut and Shrikant Eknath Shinde.

Congress Lok Sabha MP from Chitradurga, B.N. Chandrappa, and Congress MLA from Gadag, Karnataka H.K. Patil have also written to the Union Health Minister for action against J&J.

Dharamvir Gandhi, Lok Sabha MP from Patiala, has also written to Nadda on December 28, 2018, urging him to penalize J&J for its wrongdoing and violation of Indian laws.
