The premium for Government employees and pensioners to avail of the cashless healthcare services offered by the Andhra Pradesh Government will now go up.

The state has a total of 7 lakh employees and retired employees. All these people are covered under the scheme. They are paying Rs.90 to Rs.120 to the state government to avail the cashless healthcare services at selected network hospitals of the state.

The authorities have said that the premium amount is going to be increased as they have also included knee replacement procedure and dental care services in the list of procedures. “The fresh premium to be borne by the employees and the pensioners is likely to be around Rs.200 to Rs.225 per month. Otherwise, it will be difficult for the state government to implement the cashless healthcare services. We will soon take a decision on how much the increase should be,” he said.

On the other hand, the state Government has decided to open an escrow account to deposit the premium amount paid by the government employees and the pensioners. This was revealed by the principal secretary of medical, health and family welfare department of the state Poonam Malakondaiah.
