The ongoing doctors' strike in Delhi's Safdarjung Hospital proved fatal for 20-year-old Shasank, who died in the hospital on January 14, 2019, in the absence of treatment.

The patient, who was a victim of a road accident in Gurugram, was brought to the hospital in a critical condition late at night on January 12, 2019.

The deceased's mother was inconsolable as he was the only son among five siblings in the family.

"He was treated initially but doctors left him without treatment early  in the morning due to the sudden strike.The went on strike and his treatment was left midway, " said the deceased's relative.

It may be noted that around 1500 resident doctors have gone on indefinite strike in Safdarjung Hospital over an assault on a junior resident doctor in the emergency ward.
