Dogs sleep on patients' beds in Bihar Govt. hospital

In a mockery of healthcare services in Bihar, dogs were found on a bed meant for patients in a government hospital in the state. The matter was reported from Government Hospital in Nawada on January 17, 2019, where two dogs were laying in a bed.

In a picture which has gone viral on social media sites, patients can be seen in beds located just a small distance from the bed on which dogs are sleeping. It may be noted that there is only one bed available per more than eight thousand people in Bihar, the worst ratio in India.

This matter has exposed how seriously government authorities in the state take healthcare services in the state run hospitals. This also endangers the lives of patients as dogs may bite patients and also cause infection. This can worsen the condition of patients getting treatment.

Ironically, the administration of the hospital is not aware of the situation which has become a talking point on social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter.

Dr Umesh Chandra, Civil Surgeon, says that it will be ascertained how these dogs could enter the hospital and who was responsible for it.
