Lady doctor's suicide in Agarsen Hospital: Docs seek fair probe

Rohit Shishodia
Unhappy over the slow progress of investigation in the recent suicide by Dr Aastha Munjal in Maharaja Agarsen Hospital (MAH) in Punjab Bagh, Delhi, doctors have said that there should be a fair investigation and exact cause of her death should be made public.

Dr Munjal was found dead in the duty room of the ICU. She was an MD-Anesthesia and was also pursuing a Critical Care Advisor course.

Dr Ankit Om, Chairman, United-RDA, and Ex-DNB from MAH, told DTMT: “We demand fair investigation in Dr Munjal’s suicide case. Truth must come in public domain. There have been around 29 suicides of young doctors in the past five years but nobody debates and discusses about why such suicides take place and what should be done to prevent these suicides.”

A senior official of MAH told DTMT: “Presently, the postmortem is being conducted. Police and family members of the deceased have seen the CCTV footage a number of times. We have nothing to hide and we are open for any investigation. We are also eagerly waiting for the postmortem report. She was part of our family.”
